The New Zealand Government has announced a new string of measures to encourage electric vehicle (EV) uptake and drive down emissions. From 1st July, Kiwi drivers will be able to secure grants for electric and some hybrid vehicles of up to NZ$8,625 (US$6,113) for new vehicles and NZ$3,450 (US$2,445) for used cars, as the country transitions to an emissions-free fleet. The changes follow New Zealand’s Climate Commission recommendations which laid out sweeping changes required to get the country closer to its emissions targets.
