Space Barbie

With over 200 careers under her belt, the iconic @Barbie doll can now add astronaut to the list. In April, Mattel announced its partnership with the International Space Station’s (ISS) National Lab on Mission DreamStar, and have sent two Barbie dolls into space. The project aims to inspire young girls to consider careers in aerospace, engineering and STEM. DreamStar aims to help close the “Dream Gap ” and level the playing field for girls. DreamStar creates videos and educational content that is shared via Barbie’s Youtube, and social media to nearly 20 million viewers. The content on these channels highlights both current and historical women in space to reinforce the message “that not even gravity can hold them back.” – Lisa McKnight, Executive Vice President and Global Head of Barbie and Dolls, Mattel
