Floating Holtels
5 May, 2022
Founder of Lazzarni Design Studio recently unveiled his new concept prototype, Pearlsuite, a hospitality concept that houses vacationers in units that float on water. Designed for Italian mobility brand Jet Capsule, the design is targeted to both existing and future beach resorts, providing them with the opportunity to expand their resorts with zero carbon footprint, zero infrastructures, and at a very low implementation cost. In terms of applied technology, sustainability, and innovation contents, the Pearlsuite displays multiple features and possibilities. The suites can be equipped with an electric engine, and can self-position themselves or cruise at 5 knots from point A to B, based on an advanced GPS positioning system and autopilot features. The suites are 100% solar-powered and are capable of self-producing energy needed for air conditioning, lighting, fridge propulsion, and other appliances. Each pod can also be equipped with a gyroscope stabiliser system or a fuel cell hydrogen generator in order to produce energy onboard, ensuring functionality even on rainy days. With sea levels predicted to rise with almost 30cm by 2050, as a result of human-caused global warming, there is an urgency for coastal tourist destinations to adapt to low-impact solutions like Lazzarni’s Pearlsuite.
