Driven by donations, the online database provides free archival services, training, and revitalization grants for language activists. Linguicide – the term for a language’s death may threaten the worlds remaining 6.5000 languages. According to the Unesco Atlas of the World’s Languages, between 1950 and 2010, 230 languages went extinct.
