Danish studio SHL Architects are collaborating with Cometti Truffer Hodel on a design for the world’s tallest timber building. Reaching 100-meter-tall, the residential tower named Rocket&Tigerli will be built in Switzerland and constructed by 2026. The project marks a milestone in the construction of timber buildings with an innovative construction system, which uses wood as a replacement for concrete. Systems like these are symbolic of a “green shift” in the construction industry. Wood is earth’s only renewable building material which can be reused and recycled. The use of timber also contributes to counteracting the greenhouse effect, and is believed to contribute to healthy indoor environments due to its ability to regulate humidity and temperature. “We believe that timber contributes to a human sense of wellbeing and is an enviable solution in the quest for a resilient and more sustainable future.⁠”
